TOGETHER TILL THE END

Feature Film · Horror / Thriller · 84 min · Mexico

Written & Directed by Salvador Medina

The apocalypse is outside. Their relationship is already falling apart inside.

When a zombie outbreak traps Elena and Joaquín inside their apartment, survival should be their only concern. Instead, isolation forces them to confront a relationship that was already collapsing long before the dead began walking.

What began as an award-winning short film became my feature directorial debut: an independent, single-location horror film shot in Mexico in just six days.

I wanted to make a zombie movie where the zombies weren't necessarily the most frightening thing in the room. The outbreak becomes a deadline, forcing two ordinary people to decide what they're willing to do for each other when the outside world finally comes knocking.

Rather than showing the apocalypse, we kept most of it beyond the apartment walls—using sound, performance and claustrophobia to make the audience feel what the characters couldn't see.

“The relationship is the emergency.”

MADE INDEPENDENTLY

Together Till the End was made with a minimal crew, limited resources and one primary location. We rehearsed and blocked the entire film before production, then shot the feature over six days during a COVID spike in Mexico.

The limitations became part of the language of the movie: an empty apartment, a restrained visual palette and an unseen world collapsing just beyond the door.

FROM SHORT TO FEATURE

The original Together Till the End short screened at 13 film festivals, including BendFilm, Macabro, Panic Fest Presents Tricks & Treats and Feratum.

Its festival run gave us the confidence to attempt something much more ambitious: take a story built around two actors and one apartment and turn it into a feature without losing what made the original work.

RECEPTION

“84 minutes of nail-biting that turns from a gentle simmer into a comfortably steamy, roaring boil.”

“You don’t need a monster budget to scratch a terrifying itch.”

“Ends with an emotional gut punch — more romantic and tragic than horrific.”

“You do not see much of the dead, and the film is stronger for it.”
